LaChelle Allen
2025-2026 Educator Fellow
LaChelle Allen is an educator, school counselor, and emerging educational leader who is committed to equity, racial equity, and student-centered systems across North Carolina. LaChelle currently serves as a school counselor, where she supports students, families, and educators by addressing academic, social-emotional, and systemic barriers that disproportionately impact marginalized learners.
She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in School Counseling, and a School Administration add-on licensure. Her background includes several years as a classroom teacher prior to transitioning into her current role as a school counselor. This experience has given her a strong instructional foundation and a holistic understanding of school systems. Across her roles, she has consistently worked to bridge instruction, mental health, and leadership to improve student outcomes.
LaChelle was raised and is professionally rooted in rural North Carolina and is deeply invested in equity work that centers rural communities, particularly the development of students and leaders of color. She believes that meaningful educational change requires culturally responsive leadership, courageous examination of policies and practices that perpetuate inequities, and intentional engagement with communities. Her interests include cultivating leadership pathways for students, strengthening school culture and community partnerships, and fostering organizations that create sustainable learning and working environments for teachers and students while advancing equity-driven transformation.
LaChelle aspires to serve a rural community as an elementary school principal and eventually in a district leadership role, where she can influence systems, mentor educators, and create inclusive school environments in which students feel supported, empowered, and valued.
