How the proposed constitutional amendments will impact ALL North Carolinians.
This November, North Carolina voters will see three proposed constitutional amendments on their ballots that could directly harm our way of life
Two tax amendments would limit public funds in the state Constitution, threatening schools, health care, emergency services, and other community needs, while giving tax breaks to the wealthiest people, companies, and big property owners. The third would add an unneeded voter ID rule to our state Constitution, creating another obstacle to voting instead of making it easier for eligible North Carolinians to take part in our democracy.
It doesn't matter if you prefer eastern or western-style BBQ, mountains or beaches, Pepsi or Coke; North Carolinians show up for each other, come hurricanes or high water. We care deeply for our closest loved ones and complete strangers alike, and we know that, no matter which shade of blue (or red) you root for, our well-being is connected. Fully funding the things we all need, like strong public schools, safe roads, and affordable healthcare, is just one more way we take care of one another.
That’s why it’s important for North Carolinians to understand what the proposed constitutional amendments could mean for our schools, health care, and communities.
Fully fund our education.
Fully funded public schools ensure everyone in our state has an amazing education that helps them achieve their dreams. We remember strong leaders like State Senator Abraham Galloway, who made public education a promise for all children, regardless of their race or background, to have the freedom to learn. We must keep this promise.
Protect our teachers’ jobs.
Experienced and caring teachers make all the difference in how our students learn. But instead of paying North Carolina’s educators what they’re worth, two proposed tax amendments on the ballot could cut public school funding, leading to more teacher layoffs and school closures. We owe it to our educators and students to vote against these amendments and demand that our lawmakers fully fund what our teachers, students, and public schools need to thrive.

When politicians fail to fully fund our public programs, families face rising medical debt, small and rural hospitals face closures, and millions of North Carolinians risk going without care when we need it most.
